Is religion important to me?
Hello everyone, today i want to answer if religion is an important subject to me as a person.
Personally, i grew up with a family where my father is an atheist, but his family is catholic, and my mother is semi-catholict (she doesn't have a strong link with the church and the festivities but have been baptized). In my case, i was baptized and i did the first Communion, but i was never too close with the catholic church or religion. So, i don't consider myself as a 100% catholict, because i don't follow the catholic way of life, for example, i don´t go to church every sunday. But i don't consider myself as an atheist. I see myself as a person who is constantly thinking and wondering about subject of existentialism, like the meaning of death, without a strong answer.
With all this in mind, i don´t consider religion as something so important to me, but that doesn't mean that i don't understand the people who this subject is important to them. As an anthropologist student i see religion as a cultural and social manifestation, and i respect that. That is why i have never being rude with someone religious or atheist.
Finally, i think that to belong in a religion is something that can cease the existential doubt about death and other subjects, something that is very troublesome to me. So, i see religion as an opportunity to have meaning in life and see the world with different eyes.
I have to be clear that when i say religion I don't mean the institutionalized church (a little parenthesis to have in mind).
I hope this can be useful to you, and don't forget to comment this post.
I believe that the existencialism is the other way to the religion, like the nemesis that can´t live without the other jejej
ReplyDeleteI think that nowadays, the most people see the religion in the same perspective like your, wich its is interesting to analyze a society level.
